Veteran

My name is Beth Smith and I am a former lieutenant in the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office where for 13 years I honorably served the citizens of our County. Previously, I served with honor as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. I currently own and operate a small business providing court-related services and I am the security liaison to the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville.

While I was a Sheriff’s Deputy, I created and obtained funding for the first Sheriff K-9 Unit, developed a program for senior citizens to better interface with law enforcement (S.A.L.T.) and co-created the County’s first Victim Witness Protection Plan. I also developed a pro-active identification program for children (S.K.I.P) as well as a visitation program for children of divorced parents. I am the first female to ever be promoted in the Sheriff’s Office.

I have the experience, the leadership skills and, equally important, the integrity to bring honor back to the Sheriff’s Office.
